Smoking Cessation Programs

Quitting smoking is one of the most important things you can do to improve your health, but it can also be one of the most challenging things to do.

There are a number of options open to support you during the process of quitting smoking to improve your chance of success.

Talk to your family health care team to help find the best option for you.

On site program open to rostered patients only:

Our clinic offers on site smoking cessation support that is operated by the Westend FamilyCare Clinic FHT pharmacist

Through expanded scope the pharmacist is able to support your quit attempt by prescribing pharmacotherapy if that is the best choice for you. Cold turkey and reduce to quit programs without pharmacotherapy are also supported.

Our smoking cessation program is affiliated with the Ottawa Heart Institute through the Ottawa Model for Smoking Cessation (OMSC) as well as the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) through the STOP study for smoking cessation.

If you are ready to quit, your physician or nurse practitioner may refer you to the clinic pharmacist for smoking cessation support.

You may also self-refer by calling the front desk.

The pharmacist will contact you directly to coordinate your individual appointment.

Group programs are not offered at the clinic.
